Standard Markdown
Each item is a .md file you can open in any text editor. The frontmatter contains the structured properties and the body contains the notes, so the files stay both human-readable and machine-usable.
Works Everywhere
Your collection files open in Obsidian, VS Code, iA Writer, or any Markdown-compatible app. MDCollections is the workflow layer, not a storage prison.
No Export Needed
There is no export step and no conversion ceremony. Your collection is already in a universal format from the moment you create it.
Why it matters
This is the biggest strategic difference between MDCollections and many collection or database apps. You do not have to trade better workflows for worse ownership.
