Quick Start Tips

Getting started with MDCollections takes just a few minutes. Here are five things to try first to get the most out of the app.

1. Create Your First Collection

Tap the plus button on the home screen and give your collection a name. Choose a folder — or let MDCollections create one for you. Define a few properties (title, category, notes) and you’re ready to start adding items.

2. Scan a Barcode

If you have a book or product nearby, try the barcode scanner. Open your collection, tap add, and point your camera at the barcode. Watch the item details fill in automatically.

3. Set Up a Storage Location

Go to the Locations tab, create a location (like “Living Room”), and add a container (like “Bookshelf”). Print the QR label and stick it on the shelf.

4. Try Different Views

Switch between List, Grid, and Stacks views to see which works best for your collection. Each view highlights different aspects of your items.

5. Open Your Files in a Text Editor

Navigate to your collection folder in Files or Finder. Open any .md file — your data is right there in plain text, ready to edit anywhere.
