MDCollections is designed with privacy as a fundamental principle, not an afterthought.

No Data Collection

MDCollections collects no personal information. None. The app does not contain analytics, tracking pixels, advertising frameworks, or any code that transmits your data to external servers.

Local Storage Only

All of your data resides exclusively on your device. Your collections, items, images, and documents are stored as files in directories you choose. MDCollections uses no proprietary database and no cloud storage.

Optional Barcode Lookup

MDCollections includes an optional product lookup feature that uses a third-party API (UPCItemDB) to retrieve product information from barcodes. This feature is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled by you. When enabled, the only data sent is the barcode number — no personal information, no device identifiers.

No Analytics, No Tracking, No Ads

There are no analytics services, no usage tracking, no crash reporters that phone home, and no advertisements in MDCollections. Your usage of the app is entirely private.

Your Files, Your Control

Because MDCollections stores everything as plain Markdown files, you always have full control over your data. You can read, edit, copy, move, or delete your files using any tool — MDCollections never locks you in.
