Storage Locations
Knowing what you own is only half the problem. Knowing where it is matters just as much. MDCollections lets you define physical storage locations, organize containers within them, and assign items to specific spots.
Locations and Containers
A location is a place — your garage, a storage unit, an office closet. Within each location, you define containers — shelves, boxes, bins, drawers, cabinets. Each item in your collection can be assigned to a specific container at a specific location.
QR Code Labels
MDCollections generates printable QR code labels for your locations and containers. Print a label, stick it on a shelf or box, and scan it with your phone to instantly see what’s inside — or to quickly assign a new item to that container.
The QR codes use the mdcollections:// URL scheme, so scanning a label with your device’s camera opens MDCollections directly to the right location or container view.
Quick Assignment
When you’re putting items away, scan the QR code on the container first. Then scan the barcodes of the items going into it. Each item is automatically assigned to that container — no manual data entry, no scrolling through lists.
Unassigned Items
The app tracks items that are assigned to a location but not to a specific container. This helps you identify items that need to be properly shelved or boxed.
