Vinyl Record Cataloging

Vinyl collectors care about the details — pressing, label, condition, cover art. MDCollections gives you the structure to track it all while keeping your catalog in files you control.

Collection Setup

Define properties that matter to vinyl collectors: artist, album, label, year, format (LP, 7”, 12”), pressing details, condition (using Goldmine grading), purchase price, and cover image. Set the default view to grid so you can browse by album art.

Adding Records

For records with intact barcodes, scan the UPC and let the product lookup fill in the basics. Then add the details that only you know — the specific pressing, the condition, where you bought it. Take a photo of the cover and the label.

Browsing Your Collection

Grid view turns your catalog into a visual experience. Scroll through rows of album covers, just like flipping through a crate at a record store. Switch to Stacks view to group by artist, genre, or decade. Use search to find a specific album instantly.

Storage Tracking

If your collection is spread across shelves, crates, or storage units, use storage locations to track where each record is. Label your crates with QR codes, scan to see what’s inside, and never lose track of a record again.
